is a trendy, cosmopolitan Inner Western suburb of Sydney. Darling Street has come alive - giving a reputation of being a cool, laid back village like area. has inherited some great shops and cafes, many of which used to set up shop in nearby Balmain. was once behind Balmain in the trendy stakes, yet this has all now changed. does not exude a too cool for school attitude to the likes of nearby Balmain.



is a desired and friendly area to live in. used to be called Balmain West. The area is now called due to the Rosella's having taken up residence in this part of Sydney in the past.

is home to old style terrace houses, and an abundance of apartments right near the Iron Cove Bridge - in the Balmain Shores complex of which construction commenced in 1998. This space used to be occupied by the Balmain Power Station.



used to be home to the Balmain Leagues Club, of which now occupies spaces in Five Dock and Flemington. The club put in a proposal to include some high rise apartments on their Victoria Road space, to be initially rejected by council - only for their application to be approved by the council recently. The local residents are outraged.



Residents were once also outraged with the construction of the second bridge where King George Park was once a construction site, with the kids play space now restored to the popular Constitution Playgrounds as a result.

Parking: Difficult. You will need to park in the back streets. Forget about Darling Street, its too busy.

Transport: Excellent bus services frequent Victoria Road (500 series) from Ryde and Parramatta to the city. Bus routes 432-434, 440 and 444-445 also service this area. The area was going to be home to a Metro Light Rail Station, of which is now scrapped.
